Weekly Wisdom: Big or Small, Change for Kids Matters

Even small things can make a big difference when creating change, especially when it comes to kids. Time after time, we see how our advocates’ efforts are critical in giving children the best start in life. For example, thanks to our advocates calling and writing their members of Congress, we helped increase funding for critical early education programs like Head Start and child care in the federal budget as well as funding for global health programs. But our work doesn’t end here. President Trump has proposed eliminating the 21st Century Community Learning Centers programs, which funds after-school programs for high-poverty schools. If Congress enacts the president’s plan, more than 1.6 million children would lose out on after-school and summer programs. Let’s build on our success for kids by urging Congress to reject these cuts!
