Student Engagement

Students are a powerful political force.

Our student engagement program  harnesses the talent and passion of high school and college students to make a positive impact on the lives of children through advocacy. We work with ambitious and committed student leaders in strategic areas across the U.S. to move the needle forward on key issues affecting children.

Through advocacy actions, our student leaders engage their classmates and community to influence elected officials and decision makers to support policies that guarantee every child a strong start in life.

How can you be an advocate for kids?

  • Represent Save the Children Action Network at your school and in your community.
  • Educate your family, friends and classmates about SCAN’s issues and campaigns through call-ins, film screenings, letter writing events and other advocacy activities.
  • Engage your elected officials through emails, phone calls, social media posts, in-district petition deliveries and lobby meetings.
  • Write letters to the editor for school papers and local news outlets about issues affecting children.

What’s in it for you?

  • Build skills in leadership, advocacy and grassroots organizing.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of policies and issues affecting children.
  • Connect with your elected officials and their staff.
  • Get access to a national network of peer advocates.
