Research shows the first five years of children’s lives are critically important for their development. However, New Hampshire is the only state in New England without state-funded preschool.

We are working to elect candidates who are committed to expanding access to high-quality early learning programs in the Granite State.

New Hampshire activists use their voices in a number of ways! Our activists post information and actions to their social media pages, staff booths at community events, meet with elected officials and even ask presidential candidates questions about how they would work to help children.

There are countless ways you can use your voice to advocate for children. Plus, joining in our work will positively impact your life as well as the lives of children in New Hampshire and beyond.

Volunteer at Family Fun Day in Nashua

Nashua High School South (map) May 20 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

On Saturday, May 20 SCAN will set up a booth at Lil’ Iguana’s Family Fun Day at Nashua High School South. We will need volunteers to help discuss SCAN’s work with local families, and run a variety activities and games for kids to enjoy!

Volunteer at Concord Farmers Market

Concord City Plaza (map) May 27 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm

On Saturday, May 27 Save the Children Action Network (SCAN) will set up a booth at City Plaza on North Main Street in Concord, during the hours of operation of the city’s weekly Farmers Market. We will urge passersby to use their voices for kids by signing a petition or volunteering with SCAN, and we need volunteers to join us!

Volunteer for Full-Day Kindergarten

New Hampshire State House (map) June 1 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am

On Thursday, June 1 the New Hampshire House of Representatives is voting on SB 191 – a bill that would increase funding for full-day kindergarten.

Save the Children Action Network (SCAN) will be at the State House talking to lawmakers before they vote to highlight the importance of expanding full-day kindergarten. Please volunteer to help pass out fliers and show you care about all New Hampshire’s kids having access to high quality early education.

Advocate for Kids: In New Hampshire and around the World

With education and foreign aid budgets threatened by funding cuts, kids need you now more than ever.

Educate, activate and inspire yourself and others to be a voice for kids by joining us at a free Advocate for Kids Training in Concord, New Hampshire.

On Wednesday, June 14 Save the Children Action Network (SCAN) staff and volunteer leaders will host an advocacy training. There you will learn how to effectively use your voice for kids!

Wednesday, June 14 - 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. - SCAN Office, Concord

Our Advocate for Kids Training will cover:

• Fool-proof advocacy tactics

• How to make a case for early childhood education and the survival of kids and moms around the world

• How you can inspire others to join you in the fight to ensure all children get a strong start in life

Volunteer at Intown Concord’s Market Days Festival

June 22-24 is Intown Concord’s annual Market Days Festival! Save the Children Action Network (SCAN) will set up a booth at this exciting three-day event, during which we’ll encourage festival-goers to use their voices for kids every where! Our booth will feature a variety of games and activities, so we’ll need the help of our volunteers each day. I hope you’ll join us!

Ian Ceraolo
Mobilization Manager, New Hampshire

Ian joined SCAN in February of 2017. He has worked on various electoral campaigns in New Hampshire and Virginia and brings a passion for grassroots organizing. Most recently, he worked in New Hampshire during the 2016 election for NextGen Climate, turning out students and young people for Hillary Clinton and Senator Maggie Hassan.

Lindsay Hanson
Government Relations Manager, New Hampshire

Lindsay Hanson is the Government Relations Manager in New Hampshire. She comes to SCAN after leading the state-wide advocacy group NARAL Pro-Choice New Hampshire. Prior to that, Lindsay spent nearly five years as Vice President of the Women’s Fund of New Hampshire. Additionally, she was the NH Women’s Vote Director for Obama for America and ran Governor Maggie Hassan’s successful run for State Senate.

Lindsay has more than 10 years of leadership experience in philanthropy, political and nonprofit management, including expertise in grant-making, fundraising and long-range strategic planning.

Lindsay is a life-long resident of New Hampshire and currently lives in Concord with her three Great Danes.
