  • Urge Sen. Rubio to Expand Affordable Child Care in Tax Reform

Florida is one of 33 states in the U.S. where the cost of child care is more than in-state college tuition. That means high-quality care leaves out children living in poverty.

Access to high-quality child care helps children – especially those living in poverty – get a strong start in life and helps ensures equal opportunity for every child. Congress has a chance through the tax reform bill to help millions of kids who don’t have access to quality child care.

Urge Senator Rubio to support an expansion of the child care tax credit in tax reform.

  • Tell Congress Not to Leave Kids Behind in Tax Reform

    Child from West Virginia

Too often kids living in poverty get left behind. Unfortunately, the new tax reform bill introduced in the House of Representatives is no exception.

The tax reform bill does nothing to help families pay for high-quality child care. Tax reform should expand opportunities for America’s children by increasing the child care tax credit.

Help more kids have a chance to succeed. Urge Congress to expand the child care tax credit today!

  • Tell Your Senators that Every Girl Deserves a Future

Ten-year-old Maha’s* life has been turned upside down. After fleeing her home in Syria because of bombing, the school in her new community was bombed two times. Since then, Maha hasn’t been able to return to school. She has dreams of becoming a doctor, but without an education, she may be denied her dreams.

We can’t let that happen to a generation of children! Ensuring access to quality education as soon as children are forced to leave their homes provides them with the opportunity to achieve and reach their full potential.

Urge your senators to cosponsor and pass the bipartisan Protecting Girls’ Access to Education in Vulnerable Settings Act.

  • Urge Your Members of Congress to Save Children’s Lives

Meet 20-month-old Fatuma from Ethiopia.* Fatuma’s mom noticed that she had lost weight and became very weak. Fatuma was suffering from malnutrition. Luckily, health care workers were able to give her plumpy nut, a nutritious food given to kids suffering from malnutrition.

Plumpy nut is the kind of low-cost, high impact solution that helped save Fatuma’s life. Unfortunately, 5.6 million children each year aren’t so lucky. They die from preventable causes like pneumonia, malnutrition and malaria.

Legislation introduced in Congress – the Reach Every Mother and Child Act – would scale up effective health and nutrition programs, like Fatuma received, to help more moms and kids survive and thrive.

Urge your members of Congress to cosponsor the Reach Act today.

  • Urge Congress to Make Child Care More Affordable

In many parts of the country, child care costs are more than housing and even in-state college tuition! That means kids living in poverty don’t have the same chance to succeed as other kids because their parents can’t afford the cost of high quality child care.

High-quality child care helps kids – especially those living in poverty – succeed. From starting school ready to learn to higher graduation rates, quality child care can transform kids’ lives.

A bill in Congress called the Promoting Affordable Childcare for Everyone (PACE) Act (S. 208 | H.R. 3632) would update the tax code to help with the cost of child care.

Urge your members of Congress to cosponsor the PACE Act, and help more kids succeed!

  • Urge Congress to Publicly Oppose the Refugee Resettlement Cap

Refugee children like 4-year-old Tamara* have seen things that no child should see. She fled with her family to Lebanon after the fighting in Syria threatened their safety.

Children like Tamara deserve a chance to be safe. The Trump administration’s decision to drastically reduce the number of refugees who can resettle means that even more children will miss out on the change to be happy, healthy and safe.

We need to send a strong message to Congress to speak out against this harmful refugee cap!

  • Save Home Visiting Programs!

The deadline for Congress to renew the Maternal, Infant, Early Childhood Home Visiting program (MIECHV) was September 30. MIECHV matches at-risk moms and dads and their kids with trained community members to support child literacy and teach parenting skills.  Unfortunately, Congress hasn’t acted yet. While programs continue to run, it is getting more and more difficult to keep up as funding runs out.

Home visiting is an effective way to empower parents, like Jalyssa, be the best parents they can be. Jalyssa had a tough childhood. So when she became a mom, she wanted to do better for her kids – but wasn’t sure how. Because she participated in a home visiting program, the lives of her daughters – including Jayla (pictured here) – have been transformed.

If Congress doesn’t renew this home visiting program, 145,000 kids like Jayla could miss out on the chance to succeed. Urge Congress to renew MIECHV today!

In many parts of the country, child care costs are more than housing and even in-state college tuition! That means kids living in poverty don’t have the same chance to succeed as other kids.

High-quality child care helps kids – especially those living in poverty – succeed. From starting school ready to learn to higher graduation rates, quality child care can transform kids’ lives.

Now, a bill in Congress called the Promoting Affordable Childcare for Everyone (PACE) Act (H.R. 3632) would update the tax code to help with the cost of child care.

Urge your member of Congress to cosponsor the PACE Act, and help more kids succeed!

  • Help Refugee Children Stay Safe in School

Meet 13-year-old Majed.* Before his family was forced to flee Syria, he saw things no child should see. His best friend was shot and killed on his way to a funeral. Now, he is safe in Lebanon where he has access to healthcare, warm clothes, nutritious food and school.

Urge Congress to stop cuts to refugee education so kids like Majed can stay safe in school.

  • Save Afterschool Programs!

Meet Timmy form Kentucky. Timmy attends an afterschool program where he is learning to love to read. He’s one of more than 190,000 kids who could lose out on after school programs if Congress approves budget cuts funding to the program.

Please tell your members of Congress that you oppose these budget cuts today!

  • Thank Senator Graham for His Leadership in Protecting Funding for Life-Saving Foreign Aid

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has continued to be a fierce champion for foreign aid. He recognizes that doing good in the world is in our best interest. Our investments have helped create some of our best trading partners and stopped the spread of global disease. Healthy children can reach their full potential and contribute to the advancement of their societies, which are more likely to be peaceful if they’re prosperous.

Sign our thank-you petition to Senator Graham! We’ll deliver it to his office in person!

  • Urge Congress Not to Cut Life-Saving Humanitarian Programs

Right now, more than one million children face starvation in East Africa and Yemen. Before the drought in Somalia, Khadra’s tea shop and livestock supported her family. But as the drought continues, her livestock is nearly gone, and people can’t afford tea. Now she can’t afford to feed her family.

Khadra told Save the Children aid workers, “Sometimes I feel really sad and think that we are all just waiting to die.”

We must be a voice for Khadra and her family.

Urge Congress to fund life-saving humanitarian assistance!

  • Thank Your Member of Congress for Working to Save Kids’ Lives

Great news! Your member of Congress led a bipartisan effort to introduce the Reach Every Mother and Child Act (S. 1730 | H.R. 4022). If enacted, this bill could help the U.S. end preventable child and maternal deaths.

All children deserve a strong start in life – no matter where they live. Tragically, every day 15,000 kids die from preventable causes, like malnutrition and pneumonia. We know what works to save lives and the Reach Act would help more moms and kids around the world have access to simple, proven treatments for preventable diseases.

Please thank your member of Congress for providing leadership on this issue.

  • Tell Congress to Help Fight Famine

    Nazkal, from South Sudan

Meet Nazkal. He is two years old and is suffering from severe malnutrition in his country of South Sudan. Nazkal is one of more than 1 million children in East Africa who are at risk for starvation.

Because of violence and drought, children as young as 11 are walking alone from South Sudan to Uganda to escape conflict and hunger.

We must act today to get much-needed relief to save the lives of children and their families. Urge Congress to fund life-saving humanitarian assistance and get these resources to the region quickly!
  • Thank you for Investing in Washington’s Kids

This year, Washington lawmakers and Governor Inslee expanded high-quality preschool for 1,800 vulnerable children and worked to protect child care subsidies for working families.

Please sign our thank you card for our early learning champions.  Your signature lets them know that we’re paying attention and we appreciate their work on behalf of kids.
  • Urge Congress to Continue Effective Home Visiting Programs

Meet Akeri and her dad, Denzel. Akeri’s family has fallen on some tough times but her dad still wants the best for his daughter. He enrolled in a home visiting program so he could learn how to be a great parent and help Akeri succeed.

A federal program called the Maternal, Infant, Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program helps to fund home visiting programs like the one Akeri’s family participates in. It is an effective, voluntary program for families living in poverty. Through educating parents, supporting child literacy and connecting families with social services, it helps kids succeed.

Congress is running out of time to pass a law to ensure this vital program that empowers families continues. Please urge your members of Congress to renew MIECHV today!

  • Tell the Senate to Make Child Care More Affordable

In most states, child care costs more than in-state college tuition. That puts the cost of child care out of reach for too many families. Moms and dads shouldn’t have to decide between keeping their jobs and keeping their kids in a safe, nurturing child care environment.

A bill in the U.S. Senate called the Promoting Affordable Childcare for Everyone (PACE | S. 208) Act would help make child care more affordable for working families by updating the tax code to reflect today’s realities.

The PACE Act would update parts of the tax code that help make child care more affordable for working families. It would increase the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit and make it fully refundable for low-income families.

Please urge your senators to make child care more affordable by cosponsoring the PACE Act today!

Personalized messages matter even more to senators. Consider adding a sentence about why this issue matters to you.

  • Thank you for Investing in New Hampshire’s Kids

During the 2017 New Hampshire legislative session, lawmakers chose to invest in kids by supporting increased funding for full-day kindergarten programs. This is a step in the right direction and will have a meaningful and positive impact for children and families throughout the state.

Say “thank you” to lawmakers who voted to increase funding for full-day kindergarten. Your message is a powerful incentive for them to continue to stand up for kids with their vote.
  • Protect Funding for Lifesaving Health & Nutrition Programs

    Meet Bahati from Tanzania.

When she was just three months old, she came down with malaria. Tragically, preventable illnesses like malaria, pneumonia and diarrhea result in the deaths of 5.9 million children under the age of five each year.

Luckily for Bahati her mom was able to take her to a local health clinic where she was treated. Simple, low-cost treatments saved Bahati’s life.

The world has made huge progress in cutting preventable deaths of kids by more than half since 1990. Send a message to Congress today urging them to protect funding for lifesaving health and nutrition programs.

  • Tell Your Senator to Vote for More Funding for Kindergarten

The Senate votes on SB-191 on Thursday, June 22. We need to build bipartisan support.

This bill is a positive step toward full funding for full-day kindergarten. It offers an additional $1,100 per student to school districts in 2019, meaning that more Granite State kids will have access to full-day kindergarten.

Please send your senator a message right now to make sure they put politics aside and do what is best for Granite State kids.

Be sure to add your personal reasons for supporting this bill to the beginning of the email.

  • Urge Congress to Support Refugees

Meet Arwa.* Arwa and her family were forced from their home in Iraq. For an entire month, she lived with frequent shelling before they were able to escape.

Today, 28 million children, like Arwa, have no place to call home. Violence, natural disasters and war mean they experience fear and uncertainty, often living in a desperate conditions.

In commemoration of World Refugee Day, ask your members of Congress to support a resolution introduced by Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Representatives Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) Ted Lieu (D-CA) calling for humanitarian support and resettlement for refugees.

  • Support Child Care for Working Families in Washington

State legislators are negotiating a budget right now, and affordable child care is at risk. A critical program called Working Connections Child Care (WCCC) is dangerously underfunded. And legislators are also considering restricting access to WCCC for families who need it most.

In Washington, it costs more than $1,000 a month for child care for an infant at a center, putting child care out of reach for many families. Investing in WCCC is a win for everyone. WCCC gives children access to high-quality early learning, provides parents affordable, reliable child care and lets child care providers stay in business.

Tell your state representatives and senator you want them to support kids by investing in Working Connections Child Care and opposing harmful proposals that restrict access.

Include a personal message about why you think it’s important to help parents pay for quality child care.

  • Urge Your Legislator to Support Increased Funding for Early Education Programs in West Virginia

Right now, the West Virginia Senate and House of Delegates are negotiating the budget for the state. We need to make sure that early learning programs receive enough funding so more kids in West Virginia have access to them.

Each year, more than 1,000 kids in West Virginia participate in Save the Children’s home visiting, in-school and after-school programs, which teach kids literacy and healthy choices. These programs reach kids in rural areas of the state who would miss out on early education if these funds are not approved.

Urge your lawmaker to support increased funding for Save the Children’s early learning programs. By asking the legislature to approve increased funding for these effective programs, you’re giving West Virginia’s kids a strong start in life.

Please add your own reason why early learning is important to you to the draft text. Your representatives need to hear your story.
  • Thank You for Investing in South Carolina's Kids

During 2017, South Carolina lawmakers chose to invest in kids by supporting Save the Children’s early learning programs that help more than 5,500 kids in rural areas each year and ensure that they will start kindergarten ready to succeed.

Thank lawmakers that took a step in the right direction for kids and voted to fund these programs. Your message is a powerful incentive for your legislators to continue to stand up for kids with their vote.

  • Urge Your Senator to Cosponsor Legislation to Expand Effective Early Learning Programs

Quality early learning gives kids living in poverty a chance to succeed. Kids like 4-year-old Shannell will be ready for kindergarten because of the high-quality pre-K program she attends.

A bipartisan bill in Congress called the Social Impact Partnerships to Pay for Results Act (SIPPRA | S. 963) would help more kids have access to high-quality early learning programs. It would allow private and philanthropic investors to enter into contracts with the government to fund early education and other programs that serve a public good. And tax payers aren’t out any money if the program doesn’t work. It’s a win-win!

Together, we can help girls and boys who are missing out on early learning have a chance to succeed. Please urge your senators to cosponsor this bill today.

  • Sign the Petition: New Hampshire Wants Fully Funded Full-Day Kindergarten

A small group of lawmakers will soon decide whether all New Hampshire’s kids will have access to full-day kindergarten.

Full funding for kindergarten is good for kids, families and our state’s economy. It is time for lawmakers to stop playing politics and invest in New Hampshire’s future.

Make sure the conference committee members know that Granite Staters are paying attention and won’t tolerate another year without full-adequacy funding for kindergarten by signing our petition today!

  • Urge Your Senators to Cosponsor the Reach Every Mother and Child Act

Meet Mwayuma and Nadya. When Nadya was born underweight in Tanzania, her mom, Mwayuma, was taught Kangaroo Care, a practice where a baby is placed skin to skin with her mother to help her grow. Mwayuma also learned about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months.

Low-cost, high impact solutions saved Nadya’s life. Unfortunately, 5.9 million children each year aren’t so lucky. They die from preventable causes like pneumonia, diarrhea and malaria.

  • Thank you for Passing the Sweetened Beverage Tax that Invests in Kids

The Seattle City Council just passed the Sweetened Beverage Tax Ordinance. As a result, more of Seattle kids will have the support they need to be kindergarten ready.

Millions of dollars from this new source of revenue will now go toward evidence-based programs that improve the social, emotional, educational, physical health, and mental health for children from birth to age five. It will also allow us to take bold steps to reduce the disparities in outcomes for children and families based on race, gender, or other socioeconomic factors and to prepare children for a strong start in kindergarten.

It's always important to thank our elected officials when they take bold steps to help our children thrive.  This makes them more likely to support our campaigns in the future. Please take a moment to send them a quick message.

  • Critical Full-Day K Vote June 1 – Take Action!
Send a quick message to your state representatives telling them to vote for SB 191 on Thursday, June 1.
An overwhelming majority of Granite Staters support full-day kindergarten. It’s one of the smartest investments we can make in our kids, families and economy.
  • Support a Sweetened Beverage Tax that Invests in Kids

Seattle City Councilmember Tim Burgess proposed an amendment to the proposed sweetened beverage tax that would increase funding for early learning programs in our city. This would be a huge victory for kids, but councilmembers need to hear from you.

Tell your Councilmember you want them to invest in kids by voting YES on an amendment that supports early learning programs for children from birth to age 5.

By hearing support for this amendment from advocates like you, they are more likely to make investing in programs for our most vulnerable kids a priority.

Include a personal message about why you think it’s important to invest in early learning programs.

  • Urge Your Senator to Cosponsor the Reach Every Mother and Child Act

Kids shouldn’t die from things like diarrhea, malaria and malnutrition. But every day, 16,000 kids die from treatable illnesses like those.

We have an incredible opportunity to make that horrible statistic a thing of the past.

A bill called the Reach Every Mother and Child Act will soon be introduced in Congress. This bill would put us on a path to end preventable deaths of moms and kids by ensuring that we help the hardest-to-reach kids.

Urge your senator to be a lead cosponsor of this bill today!

  • Urge Your Representative to Support Effective Home Visiting Programs

Maternal, Infant, Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) is an effective, voluntary program for families living in poverty. Through educating parents, supporting child literacy and connecting families with social services, it helps kids succeed.

Home visiting empowers families like Serenity’s. Her parents had such a good experience with the program when her big brother was born that they wanted her to benefit from the program, too.

If Congress doesn’t pass a law that continues the program, MIECHV will be a thing of the past and kids like Serenity would miss out.

Send your representative a message today urging support for continuing this program!

  • Urge Your Members of Congress to Cosponsor Legislation to Expand Effective Early Learning Programs

Meet 2-year old Alexis. She lives with her family on a reservation in Arizona that is among the poorest in the country. Nearly 50% of the people live below the poverty line.

Effective early learning programs help transform the lives of kids like Alexis – and break the cycle of poverty. But millions of children are missing out on these programs.

Bipartisan legislation called the Social Impact Partnerships to Pay for Results Act (SIPPRA, H.R. 576/S. 963) would help change this. Through private-public partnerships, it would help secure funding to help more kids access proven early education programs.

Kids can’t wait! Please urge your members of Congress to cosponsor this legislation today.

  • Tell Congress Not to Cut Life-Saving Foreign Aid

Meet Fatchima from Niger. At just 14-months old, her mom brought her to a hospital in critical condition. Fatchima was suffering from malnutrition and diarrhea. Because she received the care she needed, she survived.

Unfortunately President Trump’s budget makes massive cuts to the very programs that helped Fatchima survive. If his budget is enacted, children like Fatchima will die.

We must stop these budget cuts. Tell Congress to reject budget cuts to effective, life-saving foreign aid.

  • Call Your Senator and Urge Them to Support a Budget That Includes Funding for Full Day Kindergarten

Last week, the New Hampshire Senate Finance Committee stripped all funding for full day kindergarten out of the budget. New Hampshire has waited too long to make this critical investment in our kids, families and economy.

Call your senator now and make sure that they only support a budget that includes funding for full day kindergarten.
  • Urge Governor McMaster to Support Funding for Early Education Programs in South Carolina

South Carolina lawmakers have approved funding for Save the Children’s effective early learning programs in next year’s budget. Now it’s up to Governor McMaster to sign off on this critical funding that lawmakers have already agreed upon.

Each year, more than 6,000 kids in South Carolina participate in Save the Children’s home visiting, in-school and after-school programs that teach kids literacy and healthy choices. These programs reach kids in rural areas of the state – like Barnwell, Clarendon, Lee, Orangeburg and Union counties – who would miss out on early education if these funds are not approved.

Urge Governor McMaster to sign off on funding for Save the Children’s early learning programs. By asking Governor McMaster to approve funding for these effective programs, you’re giving South Carolina’s kids a strong start in life.

Please add your own reason why early learning is important to you to the draft text. Governor McMaster needs to hear your story.

  • Call Your Senators and Urge Them to Support Affordable Child Care

The Child Care Development Block Grant (CCDBG) program helps low- and moderate-income families access affordable child care. CCDBG promotes greater economic stability for families and ensures kids have access to high-quality child care.

At current spending levels, more than 200,000 kids could lose out on funding for child care. We can’t let that happen!

Please call your senators and urge them to support robust funding for CCDBG!

  • Fund Birth to Five Programs in Seattle

Recently, Seattle City Councilmember Tim Burgess proposed a sweetened beverage tax that would invest millions in early learning programs in our city.  The proposed policy is now under consideration in the City Council and will be voted on by the end of May.

Your city councilmembers needs to hear from advocates for children, like you!

This is an opportunity to expand and improve services for our most vulnerable children. Together with supporters like you, we can encourage the city council to expand effective programs that enable the poorest kids in our community to start kindergarten healthy and ready to learn.

Thank you for taking action today and for being a voice for children.

  • Thank You for Investing in Iowa’s Kids

During the 2017 Iowa Legislative Session, lawmakers passed House Files 564 and 565, new laws that are steps forward in ensuring that Iowa’s kids have an equal opportunity to succeed. Allowing school districts more flexibility in how they spend their Statewide Voluntary Preschool dollars, will give the districts much needed freedom in how best to invest in kids.

Say “thank you” to lawmakers that took a step in the right direction for kids and voted for these bills. Your message is a powerful incentive for your legislators to continue to stand up for kids with their vote.

  • Urge Governor Justice to Support Funding for Early Education Programs in West Virginia

Right now, Governor Jim Justice is making decisions about next year’s budget. We need to make sure that early learning programs receive enough funding so more kids in West Virginia have access to them.

Each year, more than 1,000 kids in West Virginia participate in Save the Children’s home visiting, in-school and after-school programs that teach kids literacy and healthy choices. These programs reach kids in rural areas of the state who would miss out on early education if these funds are not approved.

  • Urge Congress Not to Cut Life-Saving Foreign Aid Programs

Right now a famine is spreading across Africa and the Middle East. As a result, millions are facing extreme hunger and hundreds of thousands of kids are suffering from malnutrition in just four countries.

Urge Congress to oppose the president’s proposed cuts to programs that will enable Khadra and her children to survive.

  • Sign if You Agree: All Kids Deserve a Childhood

More than 700 million children – or 1 in 4 kids around the world – have been robbed of their right to childhood. Millions of children have their childhoods cut short because of who they are and where they live.

Around the world, kids’ childhoods cut short due to poor health, extreme violence, early marriage, teen pregnancy, or being forced to leave school in order to work. Lack of access to health care, clean water and healthy food puts the world’s most disadvantaged children at a high risk of death—many before they reach their fifth birthday.

Children in the U.S. are robbed of childhoods, too. Infant mortality, dropping out of school and teen pregnancy are among the many reasons that American kids miss out on childhood.

All kids deserve a childhood – no matter where they live or their background. Urge Congress not to cut programs that help kids everywhere get the childhood they deserve.

  • Sign the Petition: Fully Fund Full-Day Kindergarten for Granite State Kids

With the House of Representatives passing Senate Bill 191, we’re one step closer to increasing funding for full-day kindergarten in New Hampshire.

  • Urge Congress to Invest in Kids in Next Year’s Budget

Congress just passed the 2017 budget that includes big wins for kids. From increased funding for child care and Head Start programs here in the U.S. to increased funding for maternal and child health programs around the world, this budget will help millions of kids thrive.

Even though Congress just passed this year’s budget, they are now at work on the 2018 budget. And President Trump will have a lot more influence over the budget process for 2018. Already his administration has indicated that funding for programs that help kids survive and thrive may be in jeopardy.

We can’t roll back these gains for children. Please ask your member of Congress to protect funding for these vital kids’ programs today.

  • Urge Your Representatives to Vote for Full-Day Kindergarten Funding

The New Hampshire House of Representatives will vote on Thursday on legislation that decides the fate of children around the state. The bill – SB-191 – would enable communities to expand full-day kindergarten programs.

State-funded full-day kindergarten is key in providing a solid foundation of learning to children from all backgrounds. However, New Hampshire currently does not provide funding for our communities to educate kindergarteners for longer than a half-day. SB-191 would increase kindergarten funding to ensure more New Hampshire families have access to full-day kindergarten programming.
Urge your state representatives to vote for SB-191 and help ensure more of New Hampshire’s kids have access to full-day kindergarten.

Include a personal message about why investing in early learning and full-day kindergarten is important to you.
  • Stop Funding Cuts to Global Child Survival Programs

Meet six-month-old baby Exodus, who survived malaria. He recovered thanks to the quick treatment by staff at Save the Children’s mobile health clinic in Uganda.

The U.S. has been a global leader in helping to save the lives of children from illnesses like malaria, pneumonia and diarrhea. Since 1990, American international aid helped reduce deaths of children worldwide by half.

But now, these programs that have helped millions are in jeopardy. Congress is considering President Trump’s budget proposal, which makes devastating cuts to the foreign assistance budget. Meet six-month-old baby Exodus, who survived malaria. He recovered thanks to the quick treatment by staff at Save the Children’s mobile health clinic in Uganda. The U.S. has been a global leader in helping to save the lives of children from illnesses like pneumonia, malaria and diarrhea. Since 1990, American international aid helped reduce deaths of children worldwide by half.

But now, these programs that have helped millions are in jeopardy. Congress is considering President Trump’s budget proposal, which makes devastating cuts to the foreign assistance budget. Drastic cuts to successful programs would reverse all the good that America has done to build stronger communities and save lives around the world.

We should preserve America’s legacy of helping children around the world survive and thrive. Urge your senators to sign on to a bipartisan letter calling for robust funding for child and maternal survival programs.

  • Urge Congress to Save After-School Programs

President Trump released a budget proposal in March that would eliminate the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program. This program funds after-school programs for high-poverty schools – providing a safe place for kids to go after school.

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers program helps kids like Brooklyn from Kentucky have a safe and enriching place to go after school. The after-school program at her elementary school is helping to close the achievement gap by helping kids with reading and math. As a result of the after-school program, her school experienced a dramatic improvement in student performance.

If President Trump’s budget is enacted, Brooklyn and her friends may not have a safe place to go after school and could start falling behind their peers. Ask your members of Congress to oppose the elimination of this program.

  • Oppose Cuts to Programs that Save Kids’ Lives

President Trump is proposing massive cuts to development assistance programs. Bipartisan U.S. leadership has helped the world achieve a more than 50% decline in the number of preventable child deaths.

Cutting effective, lifesaving programs will result in the needless suffering of children like 19-month old Rabiou from Niger, who was malnourished and sick with diarrhea. Luckily, Rabiou received proper treatment and is getting better. But if we cut funding for health, nutrition and other development   programs, including those that help refugees, more children will die.

  • Urge Sununu to Fulfill His Promise to Invest in Full-Day Kindergarten

Early education received a lot of attention during last year’s election season. During the 2016 campaign, then-candidate Chris Sununu voiced his support of full-day kindergarten and promised to include a plan for funding statewide full-day kindergarten programs in his budget.

Help remind the Governor of his promise, which will benefit children and families across New Hampshire.

Please sign our petition today calling on Governor Sununu to fund full-day kindergarten.

  • Urge Your Senators to Pass Legislation to Help Millions of Kids Go to School

Meet 10-year old Bontu from Ethiopia. Bontu loves to read and solve riddles. She’s one of the lucky girls in her community that gets to attend school.

But not all girls are so lucky. Sadly, girls are still more likely than boys to be out of school. Lack of education has a negative impact on these girls’ lives and dramatically increases the likelihood that they will be married before turning 18.

The Education for All Act (S. 3256) will help change this. This bill would help remove barriers that prevent kids from going to school. Help transform the lives of millions of kids around the world by urging your Senator to support passage of the Education for All Act.

  • Iowa Legislature: Prioritize Early Education in the 2017 Legislature

More than half of Iowa's 3 and 4-year-olds are not enrolled in preschool. Without participating in early learning programs, many children, especially those from low-income families, will start school behind and may not catch up.

We can’t wait until the new Iowa legislature convenes in January to call for greater investments in high-quality early childhood education and preschool programs.

Send a strong message to our legislators that our kids are our future. Please sign our petition urging the Iowa legislature to prioritized greater investment in quality preschool programs during the 2017 legislative session.
  • Washington Legislature: Prioritize Early Education in the 2017 Legislature

More than half of the children in Washington State enter kindergarten without the basic skills they need to thrive. That is why Washington State ranks 33rd in the nation for access to state preschool for 4-year-olds, meaning thousands of the state’s children from middle-and lower-income homes do not arrive at school with opportunities equal to those of their more well-off peers. Without access to high-quality early learning programs, children fall behind. Many never catch up.

  • House Speaker Ryan and Senate Majority Leader McConnell: Pass a Spending Bill that Protects Funding for Programs that Save Kids’ Lives

Every minute, 11 children under age 5 die from preventable causes. It doesn’t have to be this way.

With U.S. leadership, the world has seen more than 50% drop in the number of children and moms who have died from preventable causes.

Now, funding for effective health and nutrition programs that contributed to this drop in preventable deaths are in danger. If Congress waits until next spring to pass a budget bill, the funding gains we made this year may be lost. That means moms and kids around the world will miss out on vaccines, treatment for diarrhea, antibiotics for pneumonia and more putting their lives at risk.

Please sign our petition to House Speaker Ryan and Senate Leader McConnell urging them to pass a budget that protects funding for health and nutrition programs that save kids’ lives.

  • Sign the Petition: President Trump, Make Early Education Part of Your First 100 Days Agenda

Millions of our nation’s kids are missing out on early learning. The science is clear that when kids participate in early learning programs they are more likely to succeed in school and in life.

That’s why President Trump must make early childhood education a priority in his first hundred days in office.

Please add your name to show president Trump that we want him to make expanded access to early learning a priority.
  • Sign the Petition: Ask Your Senators to Expand Effective Early Learning Programs

Before they adjourn for the year, the U.S. Senate has a chance to expand early learning programs by passing the Social Impact Partnership Act (S. 1089).

This bill would allow private investments to fund the up-front costs of programs that work – like early education – without risking taxpayer dollars if the programs don’t deliver results.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a version of the bill and time is running out for the Senate to pass this bill. If we don’t pass the Social Impact Partnership Act before Congress finishes up their work, we’ll need to start again next year. The millions of kids missing out on early learning can’t wait that long.

Sign our petition to urge your senator to call for a vote on the bill this year!
  • Save 15 Million Kids’ Lives: Urge Your Members of Congress to Cosponsor the Reach Act

Every minute, 11 children under age 5 die from preventable causes. It doesn’t have to be this way.

With U.S. leadership, the world has seen more than a 50% drop in the number of children and moms who have died from preventable causes.

Legislation introduced in Congress – the Reach Every Mother and Child Act – would scale up effective health and nutrition programs to reach more moms and kids. If enacted, it could save the lives of 15 million children and 600,000 moms.

Please urge your members of Congress to cosponsor this legislation today!

  • Protect Funding for Early Learning Programs

Congress is finalizing next year’s budget right now. If we don’t act, critical early learning programs that help kids have access to quality preschool and child care programs will lose out.

Programs like Early Head Start, Head Start, Child Care Development Block Grants and Preschool Development Grants help kids learn important life skills, like sharing and taking turns, in addition to literacy and early math skills.

We can’t let our nation’s children lose out on these programs! Please tell your members of Congress to protect funding for early learning programs.

  • Hold the Next President Accountable for Kids

The research is clear: quality early learning programs help children succeed in school and life.

Unfortunately, too many American children are missing out on early childhood education. To raise the best and the brightest we need to help more kids have the opportunity to succeed by expanding early learning programs.

Sign our pledge to urge Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton to commit to making quality early childhood education a priority.

  • Pledge to Vote for Early Education

Children are born ready to learn, but too many of the 16 million U.S. children living in poverty enter school not prepared to succeed. Without access to these programs, children fall behind. Many never catch up.

Our elected leaders can change this but only if we show them that investing in kids is a priority. Pledge to vote for candidates who support early education today!
  • Pledge to Be a Voice for Children

Kids can’t vote, and they don’t give money to candidates.

That’s why we need people around the country who will be a voice for children.

Together, we will hold politicians accountable. We will expand early learning opportunities in the United States and end the scourge of preventable deaths of moms and kids worldwide.

Sign the pledge to say you’re with us.

  • Urge Congress to Oppose Funding Cuts to Head Start

President Trump is proposing massive cuts to the department that funds Head Start – a cornerstone program in America’s effort to provide comprehensive early care and education to our nation’s most vulnerable children.

Now it’s up to Congress to act. We need them to hear loud and clear that Head Start is an effective program that should not be cut.

A bipartisan team of congressional leaders are asking their colleagues to sign on to a letter that calls for continued funding for Head Start. Please urge your members of Congress to add their name and stand against potential cuts to Head Start.

  • Help At-Risk Kids in Washington Have Access to High-Quality Early Learning

More than 6,000 Washington State kids are missing out on the Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) – an effective early learning program for our state’s most vulnerable children. If we don’t act soon, this program could continue to be woefully underfunded.

We have the evidence that this program is a remarkable investment that makes a big difference in the lives of at-risk children. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of thousands of children by helping them access high-quality early learning. Please urge your state legislators to support ECEAP in this year’s state budget.

  • Thank Your Member of Congress for Cosponsoring the Reach Every Mother and Child Act

Great news! Your member of Congress recently agreed to cosponsor the Reach Every Mother and Child Act (S. 1911/H.R. 3706). If enacted, this bill could help the U.S. end preventable child and maternal deaths.

All children deserve a strong start in life – no matter where they live. Thanks in part to U.S. government leadership and investments, 53% fewer children around the world have died before age 5 from preventable causes, like malaria and pneumonia, since 1990. This is a huge success that the Reach Every Mother and Child Act would build upon.

Please thank your member of Congress for providing leadership on this issue.
